Walk Up Hunts

We offer pheasant and chuker walk up hunts.

A walk-up hunt is a style of upland bird hunting where hunters walk through fields, brush, or grasslands to flush birds from cover, rather than having them driven toward them (as in a driven shoot) or released from a tower. The birds—such as pheasants, quail, grouse, or partridge—are typically wild or released into the habitat beforehand.

How It Works:
1. Walking the Terrain: Hunters move in a line or spread out across the field, often with trained bird dogs working ahead to locate and flush birds.
2. Flushing Birds: When a bird is flushed (takes flight), hunters attempt to shoot it.
3. Retrieval: Dogs retrieve the downed birds.
4. Continue Hunting: Hunters keep moving through the terrain, flushing and shooting as birds are encountered.

Key Features:
• More Natural & Challenging: Unlike a tower or driven shoot, birds are not concentrated; they may flush unpredictably, making the hunt more dynamic.
• Physical Activity: Requires walking over varied terrain, sometimes for long distances.
• Hunting Dogs: Pointers, setters, spaniels, or retrievers are commonly used to locate, flush, and retrieve birds.
